Day Thirty Six | April 4, 2021
Moss Point, MS to Gulf Shores, AL
We had another short day today, with 65 miles on the bike and 4.5 miles on the ferry. It was yet another day where we had to battle the wind in our faces. Seems like the pattern each day is for the wind to pick up in the afternoon, and it’s always right at us.
There was lots of excitement today with a long ride over the bridge on to Dauphin Island. We experienced one of the steepest hills we’ve climbed in days.
There was a ferry needed today to get across the opening of Mobile Bay. We had a little time to kill to catch the 12:30 ferry, but then, what a nice ride! Note the oil rigs in the bay and just off shore. Then, we enjoyed a pleasant and beautiful bike path on Gulf Shores.
When we opened our suitcases at the hotel, we found that the Easter Bunny had paid us a visit! What a nice surprise.
Dennis and Tom have been great. Dennis anticipates our every need and provides little perks like this along the way. He’s up before us in the morning and after us at night, buying groceries, snacks and drinks, fixing bikes, pumping up tires and planning for our next day.
Dinner and cocktails tonight at Acme Seafood and Oyster Company was great. We have a day off tomorrow.
