A Cycling tour done exclusively by Cycle Of Life Adventures.

The Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia may not be as big and mighty as the US and Canadian Rockies, but don't be fooled. These lush, green, Rhododendron cover hills can be a real challenge. The topography of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive is a constant up and down.

Our Route starts in the small mountain town of Cherokee NC, with what we consider to be the toughest day of the tour- If you decide to do all 62 miles on day one, you will climb 9200 feet.  No problems though....we have built in a shuttle forward to the National Park's Pisgah Inn- then we can shuttle you 20 miles back out in the morning. That will even out the ride a bit for day 2 which is mostly a coast downhill into Asheville.

Along the way, we will travel through the beautiful art district of Asheville and we give you an option for Mount Mitchell. We pass through charming small mountain towns of Little Switzerland then Blowing Rock where we take our first rest day. There you can stretch your legs with a walkabout Grandfather Mountain or the trails of Moses Cone Park.

You're back in the saddle to the rural areas north of Boone and Glendale Springs before entering southern Virginia. Just a few smaller hills lie ahead in Fancy Gap and The Meadows of Dan before we then enter Virginia horse country. We overnight in 2 National Prks Lodgesat th e Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge and The Lodge at Big Meadows on Skyline Dr. We spend a relaxing day off in Lexington and the Shenandoah Valley before get back on the Parkway and Skyline drive back to the top of Skyline Drive. From here, we will see West Virginia and Pensylvania on a clear day.  Your final ride is mostly downhill to Front Royal, VA, the northern terminus to Skyline Dr.
