PLEASE NOTE:
Beginning March 1, 2024, for all new guests registering for our US-based tours, we will implement our standard cancellation policy:
We offer the following cancellation policy for our shorter, domestic tours that require a $500 deposit and our Epic tours which require a non-refundable deposit to sign up. In the rare case that Cycle of Life Adventures (COLA) must cancel a trip due to low enrollment, we will do so at least 45 days prior to departure. If we cancel fewer than 45 days prior to departure, we will issue you a full refund plus a $400 credit toward any of our other tours within a calendar year.
Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, civil unrest, terrorism, natural disasters or personal, family and medical emergencies. In all cases, we will not be responsible for any personal expenses incurred such as airline tickets, hotels or car rentals. COLA reserves the right to make route and lodging modifications, as needed.
No refunds will be made for meals, services or lodging paid for but not used.
Travel insurance is recommended for Epic Adventures.
Cancellations for Classic Tours and Four Day Tours
- All cancellation must be in writing and are effective upon receipt in our office.
- Full payment is due 60 days prior to tour departure.
- 91+ days before tour departure: 100% Refund
- 61-90 days before tour departure: 65% Refund (of full tour price)
- 31-60 days before departure: 35% Refund (of full tour price)
- 0-30 days before tour departure: No Refund
- No refunds are possible after the tour begins.
- No refunds will be made for meals, lodging or services paid for but not used.
Cancellations for EPIC Tours
- All cancellation must be in writing and are effective upon receipt in our office.
- Full payment is due 120 days prior to tour departure.
- 151+ days before departure: 60% Refund (of full tour price)
- 121-150 days before tour departure: 50% Refund (of full tour price)
- 91-120 days before tour departure: 25% Refund (of full tour price)
- 0-90 days before departure: No Refund
- No refunds are possible after the tour begins.
- No refunds will be made for meals, lodging or services paid for but not used.
Cancellations for Custom and Private Tours
- Full payment is due 90 days prior to tour departure.
- Custom and Private Tours are non-refundable. If a guest has to cancel, he is responsible for the full tour price or may find a replacement rider.
- No refunds are possible after the tour begins.
- No refunds will be made for meals, lodging or services paid for but not used.
International and National Park Tours
The following tours will incur a $250 cancellation fee in addition to the cancellation policies above:
- Maine - Coastal Maine "Bold Coast" Bike Tour
- Blue Ridge Parkway Bike Tour
- EPIC Appalachians Bike Tour
- EPIC Cross Country - Northern Tier Bike Tour
Should regional or local jurisdictions make it impossible to operate a tour due to covid restrictions, and COLA makes the decision not to operate we will offer a transfer of 100% of your funds to another tour within one calendar year. If this decision is made 45 days or less from departure, we will offer an additional $400 credit toward that transfer.
POLICIES
We understand that personal circumstances sometimes force people to cancel their travel plans. Therefore, we have tried to be as generous as possible with our policies.
Travel Insurance
We recommend a “cancel for any reason policy” with any reputable travel insurance group if you are concerned about traveling at this time.
Here’s what Elaine M. wrote after a fall during our group tour of Blue Ridge Parkway in 2013:
“I also want to Thank You for recommending travel insurance! It was essential for $122. I believe my hospital bills will be covered or minimal, but the primary benefit was leaving it to them to arrange my way home with an EMT medic. I couldn’t fly from Asheville because the planes were small and required climbing a dozen stairs. They arranged a comfortable car to Mississippi, 1st class seats and a comfortable car to my home. All in all, life is good!”

Client Responsibilities
On our tours, you’ll be required to follow the safety policies and procedures of Cycle of Life Adventures, LLC and our guide. Also, you’ll be required to sign a Participant Assumption of Risks, Acknowledgement of Inherent Risks and Indemnity Agreement in favor of Cycle of Life Adventures, LLC upon your arrival to the tour.
