Rider Requirements: Must maintain a daily average pace of 10-15 mph.

The coastal areas of Georgia are extremely flat with the exception of some bridges and overpasses. On this tour we will utilize over 50 miles of paved trails on St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Although there are few trails around Savannah, there are wonderfully marked bike lanes in the Historic district and low volume roads leading to Isle of Hope and Wormsloe Plantation.

This all-inclusive tour includes upscale hotel accommodations and is designed for recreational to intermediate cyclists who love riding an average of 20-40 miles per day on paved trails, a few unpaved trails, and streets with bike lanes and shoulders. We recommend a modest pace of 10-12 miles per hour or slower if you would like to take in the natural beauty and wildlife the area has to offer.

The scheduled springtime tour is perfectly timed for the blooms of azaleas and other native plants. The weather is perfect, and the tourists have not arrived for the summer season. And the late October tour is the perfect Indian summer weather. Wildlife is abundant. Alligators, nesting egrets, eagles, and Loggerhead turtles can easily be viewed from a distance. There are three wildlife areas where we have great viewing opportunities:

  • Sea Turtle Center of GA
  • Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge
  • Driftwood Beach

Our three destinations are loaded with history. In our short stay in Savannah, we will ride to Wormsloe Plantation and Bonaventure Cemetery and cycle past dozens of historic squares, fountains, and parks.

Think of bringing a bike with a 32cm tires for riding the roads and possibly the beaches at low tide. Both St. Simons Island and Jekyll have beautiful, natural, gently sloping beaches great for riding, walking or sunbathing.

Take your time and enjoy your ride. The support van will be a few miles up the road should you need assistance. We welcome e-bikes and 2-wheel recumbents but do not have transportation space for trikes. There will be no camping with this group. Just very nice hotels and great dining out.

The tour starts in Savannah, GA and ends in Jekyll Island. Transportation back to your car or to the airport in Savannah is included in this tour price. You may opt to come early and stay late and enjoy a little beach time.

Accommodations include 1 night at DoubleTree Savannah, 2 nights at Sea Island Inn, St. Simons Island, and 2 nights at Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
