Job Description: Bicycle Tour Guide
Location: Preference to guides located in the Mid -Atlantic to Southeastern region of the US due to travel logistics of our tour departures
Position Type: Part-time/Seasonal
Position Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced and enthusiastic Bicycle Tour Guide to lead our tours, ensuring guests have an informative, enjoyable, and safe experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for cycling, and a deep understanding of the local area and bicycle maintenance skills. All travel expenses and expenses during the tour will be covered. Guides not transporting eguipment to and from a tour will be responsible for getting themselves to the tour location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Bicycle Tours: Conduct engaging and informative bicycle tours for individuals and groups.
- Ensure Safety: Conduct pre-tour safety briefings, ensure all safety equipment is used correctly, and maintain a safe environment throughout the tour.
- Maintain Equipment: Check and maintain bicycles and safety gear to ensure they are in good working condition. You must have a moderate to advanced level of mechanical experience with bicycles. Including flat tires, elements of mechanical shifting, electronic shifting, e-bike maintenance. You need a general experience in maintaining all equipment and vehicles while on tour.
- Customer Service: Address any questions or concerns from guests, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
- Route Planning: Follow designated tour routes and make adjustments as needed based on weather or road conditions. You need an excellent sense of direction and a full understanding of Ride with GPS mapping systems.
- Promote Company: Represent Cycle of Life Adventures professionally and enthusiastically, promoting our brand and encouraging future bookings.
Qualifications:
- Cycling Experience: Strong cycling skills and experience, with the ability to handle various terrains. Riding time will be about 50% of each tour. A riding pace of 12-14 mph is expected.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and entertain diverse groups.
- Customer Service: Proven experience in customer service with a focus on providing a high-quality experience.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding of bicycle safety protocols and first aid, with the ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle the demands of leading bicycle tours. Must be able to repeatedly lift bikes overhead. Must be able to routinely move luggage up to 40 pounds.
- Certification: Relevant certifications in first aid and CPR are required.
- Driving: Must be comfortable and experienced driving and backing up a van with a trailer attached. Clean driving record required.
- Food Preparation: You must have knowledgeable working skill concerning food handling, lunch preparation and food storage.
